DAP Admissions Process and Eligibility

Thank you for your expressed interest in the Douglass Adult Program. We currently have one available slot and are accepting applications for admission. We will be accepting applications Monday, October 7, 2019 through Friday October 25, 2019.

The Douglass Adult Program (DAP) provides comprehensive services to adults age 21 and beyond having a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Parents/guardians, Support Coordinators and other NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities/Department of Human Services (NJDDD/DHS) affiliated professionals are welcome to express an interest in admission.

As an approved Medicaid provider for the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities (NJ DDD) for the Supports Program (SP) & the Community Care Program (CCP), the DAP provides the following services:

  • Behavioral Supports
  • Community based supports
  • Community inclusion services
  • Day Habilitation
  • Pre-Vocational training
  • Supported Employment
  • Transportation (billable only for transportation outside of the catchment area, to & from job sites & community trips). Daily transportation to & from the DDDC is included in the Day Habilitation rate and is not billed separately.

General information:

  • DAP is located at 151 Ryders Lane, New Brunswick, NJ
  • Operating hours 9:15 am – 2:45 pm Monday through Friday
  • DAP is open 12 months a year for a minimum of 225 days
  • Individual placement is contingent on appropriate funding

Criteria for admission

  • A diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • 21 years or older
  • Individual must be enrolled in the NJ DDD Supports Program (SP) or the Community Care Program (CCP)
  • Must be Medicaid eligible to receive services
  • Must live in the 8 miles catchment area or have the ability to meet at one of four drop off locations or be willing to drive to the DAP.

  • Must be willing to participate full time in the program which is open 225 days per year

Pre Admission Screening Process

  • Referral must come from Support Coordinator or DDD (we do not accept private pay)
  • Required documentation
  • Recent ISP/IEP & any other relevant evaluations or diagnostic reports
  • Administrative staff will review the referral information to determine if the DAP can support the individual’s needs & implement the ISP in our setting.
  • After completing the initial screening the DAP administrative staff will contact you regarding your application.

If your client does not meet the criteria for admission, the application will not be reviewed or processed.
